Gerald Martin Hopetoun Minchin was born on 14 January 1901.1 He was the son of John Minchin and Martha Ellen Hitchcock.2 He married Leona Belle Rhoads, daughter of Robert Rhoads, on 22 May 1928.1 He died on 11 May 1969 at age 68.1
He graduated from Australasian Missionary College, Cooranbong, New South Wales, AustraliaG, in 1921.1 He graduated from Union College, Nebraska, U.S.A.G, in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was ordained in 1942 to the Seventh Day Adventist ministry.1 He graduated from Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.G, in 1945 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1
