Sir Ralph Bruce Verney, 5th Bt. was born on 18 January 1915.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Harry Calvert Williams Verney, 4th Bt. and Lady Rachel Catherine Bruce.2 He married Mary Vestey, daughter of Percy Charles Vestey and Dorothy Emmeline Johnston, on 7 July 1948.2 He died on 17 August 2001 at age 86.2
He was educated at Canford School, Wimborne, Dorset, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1940 in the Buckinghamshire Yeomanry.2 He gained the rank of Major in 1945 in the Berkshire Yeomanry.2 He gained the rank of Major in 1946 in the Buckinghamshire Yeomanry.2 He held the office of Member of the Buckinghamshire County Council between 1952 and 1973.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Buckinghamshire in 1954.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 1957.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Buckinghamshire between 1960 and 1965.2 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire between 1965 and 1984.2 He held the office of High Steward of Buckingham in 1966.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1974.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Calvert, of Claydon House, co. Bucks [U.K., 1818] on 23 December 1974.1

Sir Harry Calvert Williams Verney, 4th Bt. and Lady Rachel Catherine Bruce.2 He married, firstly, Priscilla Avice Sophie Schwerdt, daughter of George Francis Ignatius Schwerdt, on 13 December 1947.1 He married, secondly, Sandra (?) in 1981.2 He died on 9 November 2009 at age 90.3
