     2nd Lt. John Spencer Dunville, V.C. was born on 7 May 1896 at 46 Portland Place, London, EnglandG.1,2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Dunville Dunville and Violet Anne Blanche Lambart.1 He died on 26 June 1917 at age 21 at Villiers, FranceG, from wounds received in action.3
     He fought in the First World War.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 16 April 1914 in the Special Reserves, Dragoons.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 4 January 1916 in the 1st Royal Dragoons.2 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 1 August 1917 posthumously.2
