Oliver St. John, 1st Earl of Bolingbroke, 1625 2
     Oliver St. John, 1st Earl of Bolingbroke was born circa 1584.1 He was the son of Oliver St. John, 3rd Baron Saint John of Bletso and Dorothy Read.1 He married Elizabeth Paulet, daughter of William Paulet and Elizabeth Codingham, in April 1602.3 He died in June 1646.3 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 3 July 1646.3 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 13 November 1655.3
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bedfordshire in 1601.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bedfordshire from 1603 to 1604.4 He was appointed Knight Bachelor on 3 June 1610.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Saint John of Bletso, co. Bedford [E., 1559] in September 1618.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Huntingdonshire in 1619, jointly.3 He was created 1st Earl of Bolingbroke [England] on 28 December 1624.3 He was Member of the Assembly of the Divines between 1643 and 1646.3 He was a Commissioner of the Admiralty between 1643 and 1646.3 He was Joint Commissioner of the Great Seal between 1643 and 1646.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire in February 1642/43, appointed by the Parliamentarians.3
