Donald Mackay, Master of Reay was born circa 1658.1 He was the son of John Mackay, 2nd Lord Reay and Barbara Mackay.2 He married Anne Munro, daughter of General Sir George Munro of Newmore and Culrain and Anne Munro, on 22 August 1677.1 He died in 1680, in an accident, burnt by an exploding barrel of gunpowder while out hunting.1
He was styled as Master of Reay between 1658 and 1680.2
