     Francis Hay was the son of Peter Hay and Margaret Boyd.¹ He married, firstly, Janet Halyburton, daughter of James Halyburton of Essie, on 2 July 1618.² A contract for the marriage of Francis Hay and Elspeth Oliphant was signed on 26 April 1637.² He died circa 1654.²
     He was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.)² In 1625 he had a charter of Balhousie.² In 1632 he had a charter of Corugilton, Wigtownshire.² In 1642 he had a charter of the territorial Barony of Dupplin.² In 1648 he had a charter of Rattray.² He lived at Rattray, Perthshire, Scotland^G.

     Janet Halyburton was the daughter of James Halyburton of Essie.¹ She married Francis Hay, son of Peter Hay and Margaret Boyd, on 2 July 1618.¹
     Her married name became Hay.

     George Hay was the son of Francis Hay and Janet Halyburton.^1,2 He married Marion Nicolson, daughter of Sir Thomas Nicolson, on 28 April 1656.¹ He died in October 1672.¹
     He lived at Balhousie, Scotland^G.¹

     George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull was born on 23 June 1689.¹ He was the son of Thomas Hay, 7th Earl of Kinnoull and Hon. Margaret Drummond.² He married Lady Abigail Harley, daughter of Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford and Elizabeth Foley, circa 1 September 1709.¹ He died on 28 July 1758 at age 69.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Fowey from 1710 to 1711.¹ He held the office of Teller of the Exchequer between 1711 and 1714.¹ He was created 1st Baron Hay of Pedwardine, co. Hereford [Great Britain] on 31 December 1711.¹ In 1715 he was imprisoned in the Tower of London for suspected Jacobite sympathies, but was bailed in 1717.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Lord Hay of Kinfauns [S., 1633] on 5 January 1718/19.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Viscount of Dupplin [S., 1633] on 5 January 1718/19.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount of Dupplin [S., 1697] on 5 January 1718/19.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Kinnoull [S., 1633] on 5 January 1718/19.¹ He held the office of Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire between 1729 and 1734.¹

     Lady Abigail Harley was the daughter of Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford and Elizabeth Foley.^1,2 She married George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull, son of Thomas Hay, 7th Earl of Kinnoull and Hon. Margaret Drummond, circa 1 September 1709.¹ She died on 18 July 1750.¹
     Her married name became Hay. After her marriage, Lady Abigail Harley was styled as Countess of Kinnoull on 5 January 1719.

     Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford was born on 5 December 1661 at Bow Street, London, England^G.² He was the son of Sir Edward Harley and Abigail Stephens.^3,2 He married, secondly, Sarah Middleton, daughter of Simon Middleton.⁴ He married, firstly, Elizabeth Foley, daughter of Thomas Foley and Elizabeth Ashe, on 14 May 1685. He died on 21 May 1724 at age 62 at Albemarle Street, St. George Hanover Square, London, England^G.³
     He was created 1st Earl of Oxford on 23 May 1711. He was created 1st Baron Harley, of Wigmore, co. Hereford on 23 May 1711. He was created Earl Mortimer on 23 May 1711. He held the office of Lord High Treasurer of Great Britain.

     Thomas Hay, 9th Earl of Kinnoull was born on 4 June 1710 at Dupplin House, Perth, Perthshire, Scotland^G.^1,2 He was the son of George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull and Lady Abigail Harley.¹ He married Constantia Kyrle-Ernle, daughter of John Kyrle-Ernle and Constantia Rolt, on 12 June 1741 at Oxford Chapel, Marylebone, London, England^G.^1,2 He died on 27 December 1787 at age 77, without surviving issue.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Cambridge between 1741 and 1758.¹ He held the office of a Lord of Treasury from 1754 to 1755.¹ He held the office of Joint Paymaster of the Forces between 1755 and 1757.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1758.¹ He held the office of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1758 and 1762.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Lord Hay of Kinfauns [S., 1633] on 29 July 1758.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Viscount of Dupplin [S., 1633] on 29 July 1758.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount of Dupplin [S., 1697] on 29 July 1758.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Kinnoull [S., 1633] on 29 July 1758.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Hay of Pedwardine, co. Hereford [G.B., 1711] on 29 July 1758.¹ He held the office of Ambassador to Portugal between 1759 and 1762.¹

     Constantia Kyrle-Ernle was born circa 1717.² She was the daughter of John Kyrle-Ernle and Constantia Rolt.^1,3 She married Thomas Hay, 9th Earl of Kinnoull, son of George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull and Lady Abigail Harley, on 12 June 1741 at Oxford Chapel, Marylebone, London, England^G.^1,2 She died on 29 June 1753.² She was buried on 7 July 1753 at Calne, Wiltshire, England^G.²
     Her married name became Hay.
