Edward George Curtis was born on 26 November 1868.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Reginald Curtis and Marianne Emma Salmond.2 He married Ethel Coote, daughter of Walter Coote, on 10 September 1903.1 He died on 7 March 1923 at age 54.1
He gained the rank of Major in the Bedfordshire Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1919, where he was mentioned in despatches six times.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1916.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Northamptonshire Regiment Territorial Forces.1
