     Pauline Lumsdaine is the daughter of Captain J. Lumsdaine.² She married Maj.-Gen. George Gordon Cunliffe, son of Brooke Cunliffe and Elizabeth Rayson, on 22 May 1858.¹

     Colonel Frederick Hugh Gordon Cunliffe was born on 6 September 1861.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. George Gordon Cunliffe and Pauline Lumsdaine.² He married Ella Sophie Gaussen, daughter of David Gaussen, in 1895.¹ He died on 13 June 1955 at age 93.¹
     He fought in the Hazara Expedition in 1891.¹ He fought in the Chitral Campaign in 1895.¹ He gained the rank of Boer War in 1902 in the where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches four times.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel and Honorary Brigadier-General in the Seaforth Highlanders.¹ He was Commandant of the Nigeria Regiment between 1914 and 1917.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1916.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1916.¹ He was Brigade Commander of the HQ Unit between 1917 and 1919.¹ He was awarded the Commandeur, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.¹ He was awarded the Officer, Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus of Italy.¹

     David Gaussen lived at Marton Hall, Shropshire, England^G.¹

     Ella Sophie Gaussen was the daughter of David Gaussen.² She married Colonel Frederick Hugh Gordon Cunliffe, son of Maj.-Gen. George Gordon Cunliffe and Pauline Lumsdaine, in 1895.¹ She died in 1950.¹
     From 1895, her married name became Cunliffe.

     Ethel Brooke Cunliffe was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. George Gordon Cunliffe and Pauline Lumsdaine.² She died on 28 March 1954, unmarried.¹

     Louise Egerton Cunliffe was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. George Gordon Cunliffe and Pauline Lumsdaine.² She married John William Rogerson in 1895.¹ She died on 23 March 1936.¹
