Lt.-Col. Frederick Frank Reilly Minchin was born on 16 June 1890.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Frederick Falkiner Minchin and Marjorie Emily Abbott.1 He married Elizabeth Selby-Lowndes.1 He died on 30 August 1927 at age 37, killed in the first British attempt to cross the Atlantic from east to west.1
He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches eight times.1 He gained the rank of officer in the 2nd Connaught Rangers.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Flying Corps.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1916 and bar.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was with Imperial Airways.
