Venerable Edward Dupré Atkinson was born on 2 February 1855.1 He was the son of Richard Atkinson and Mary Jane Elizabeth Golding.1 He married Katherine Elisabeth L' Estrange, daughter of Major-Gen. Edmund L' Estrange and Rebecca Dorothea Colthurst, on 10 October 1878, they were cousins.1 He died on 26 April 1937 at age 82.1
He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Caius College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.)1 He was a practising Barrister-at-law in 1878.1 He was the Deacon between 1880 and 1884 at Seapatrick, Banbridge, County Down, IrelandG.1 He was the Rector between 1884 and 1918 at Donaghvloney, Waringstown, County Down, IrelandG.1 He held the office of Archdeacon of Dromore.1 He was the Vicar between 1919 and 1931 at Kilbroney, Rostrevor, County Down, IrelandG.1 He wrote the book Recollections of an Ulster Archdeacon, and various other works.1 He lived at Gortmore, Dundrum, County Dublin, IrelandG.1

Katherine Elisabeth L' Estrange was the daughter of Major-Gen. Edmund L' Estrange and Rebecca Dorothea Colthurst.1 She married Venerable Edward Dupré Atkinson, son of Richard Atkinson and Mary Jane Elizabeth Golding, on 10 October 1878, they were cousins.1 She died on 22 September 1922.1
