Captain Henry Mervyn Archdall was born in 1785.1 He was the son of Mervyn Archdall and Maria Murray.1 He died in February 1868, unmarried.1
He was commissioned in 1804.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 68th Regiment.1 He fought in the Peninsula War in 1808, at the Battle of Vittoria, where he picked up Joseph Buonaparte's sword, which became a family heirloom.1 He fought in the Peninsula War in 1813, he was wounded in action but recovered from his wounds.1
