Arundel Hill Cotter was born on 15 April 1837.1 He was the son of Reverend Joseph Rogerson Cotter and Mary Purcell.2 He married, firstly, Williamina Grant Maclean, daughter of J. Maclean, on 12 May 1863.1 He married, secondly, Alice Amelia Anderson, daughter of W. M. Anderson.1 He died in 1883.1
He gained the rank of officer in the 8th Foot.1 He was registered as a Licentiate, Royal College of Physicians, London (L.R.C.P.)1
