     Thomas Fortune Ryan was born on 17 October 1851 at Lovingston, Virginia, U.S.A.G.1 He married, firstly, Ida Mary Barry in 1873.1 He married, secondly, Mary Townsend Lord Cuyler in 1917.1 He died on 23 November 1928 at age 77.1
     In 1872 at New York City, New York, U.S.A.G, he founded Lee, Ryan & Warren, brokers.1 In 1883 he founded the New York Public Railroad.1 In 1898 he formed the Union Tobacco Company, which became the British-American Tobacco Company.1
