     Major Hugh Ingoldsby Massy was born on 22 January 1853.¹ He was the son of James FitzGerald Massy and Elizabeth Preston.¹ He married Lucy Caroline Justice, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Henry Annesley Justice, in 1880.¹ He died in 1901 at Khartoum, Sudan^G, from enteric fever.¹
