     Margaret Hamilton-Grierson was born circa 1882.2 She was the daughter of Sir Philip James Hamilton-Grierson and Lilias Kirkpatrick.1 She married Vice-Admiral Anselan John Buchanan Stirling, son of Colonel John Stirling Stirling of Gargunnock and Henrietta Charlotte Buchanan, on 27 June 1905 at St. George's Parish Church, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1,2 She died on 20 June 1965 at Yarmouth, Norfolk, EnglandG.2
     From 27 June 1905, her married name became Stirling.1

     Vice-Admiral Anselan John Buchanan Stirling was born on 27 June 1875.3 He was the son of Colonel John Stirling Stirling of Gargunnock and Henrietta Charlotte Buchanan.3 He married Margaret Hamilton-Grierson, daughter of Sir Philip James Hamilton-Grierson and Lilias Kirkpatrick, on 27 June 1905 at St. George's Parish Church, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1,3 He died on 7 April 1936 at age 60.3
     He fought in the Boxer Rebellion in 1900.3 He fought in the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916, as captain of a destroyer flotilla.3 He was awarded the Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.3 He was awarded the Order of St. Anne of Russia with swords.3 He was Captain of the H.M.S. Argus in 1920.3 He was Captain of the H.M.S. Columbine in 1922.3 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V in 1926.3 He retired from the military in 1931, with the rank of Vice-Admiral.3
