Lt.-Col. Patrick Godfrey Goolden Massey was born on 15 March 1913.1 He was the son of George William Hughes Massey and Marion Clarke.2 He married Bessie Lee Byrne, daughter of W. J. Byrne, on 4 March 1941.1 He died on 27 February 2002 at age 88.1
He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1933, in the service of the Hodson's Horse Indian Army.1 He fought in the Second World War, in India, Iraq, Iran and Burma, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 5th/10th Baluch Regiment.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1945.1 He was Commandant of the Governor-General's Body Guard in 1946.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Dragoons.1
