     Sir George Webbe Dasent was born in 1817 at St. Vincent.2 He was the son of John Roche Dasent and Charlotte Martha Irwin.3 He married Frances Louisa Delane, daughter of William Frederick Augustus Delane and Mary Ann White, on 4 April 1846.2 He died on 11 June 1896 at Tower Hill, Ascot, Berkshire, England.2 He was buried on 15 June 1896 at Easthampstead, Berkshire, England.2
     He was assistant editor of The Times in 1845.3 He was with the Civil Service between 1870 and 1892.2 He wrote the book The Orkneyinger's Magnus and Hacon's Sagas, published 1894.2
