     Lt.-Col. Sir James Cockburn of that Ilk, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir William Cockburn of that Ilk, 2nd Bt. and Helen Lermonth.² He married, firstly, Mary Rochead, daughter of Robert Rochead of Masterton, on 8 April 1764.¹ He married, secondly, Phoebe Sharman after 1766.¹ He died on 13 March 1780.¹
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Cockburn [N.S., 1671] circa January 1751.¹ On 15 December 1757 he sold Langton and the office of Usher.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1760 in the 48th Foot at Quebec.¹

     Mary Rochead was the daughter of Robert Rochead of Masterton.² She married Lt.-Col. Sir James Cockburn of that Ilk, 3rd Bt., son of Sir William Cockburn of that Ilk, 2nd Bt. and Helen Lermonth, on 8 April 1764.¹ She died on 5 September 1766.¹
     From 8 April 1764, her married name became Cockburn.¹

     Lt.-Col. Sir Williams James Cockburn of that Ilk, 4th Bt. was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir James Cockburn of that Ilk, 3rd Bt. and Mary Rochead.² He died on 9 January 1800, unmarried.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 1st Foot.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Cockburn [N.S., 1671] on 13 March 1780.¹

     Phoebe Sharman married Lt.-Col. Sir James Cockburn of that Ilk, 3rd Bt., son of Sir William Cockburn of that Ilk, 2nd Bt. and Helen Lermonth, after 1766.¹
     From after 1766, her married name became Cockburn.¹

     John Cockburn was born on 22 April 1675.¹ He was the son of Sir James Cockburn of that Ilk, 1st Bt. and Grissel Hay.² He married Martha Rich in 1720.¹ He died on 12 December 1758 at age 83.¹
     He was a surgeon at County Kilkenny, Ireland^G.¹

     Martha Rich married John Cockburn, son of Sir James Cockburn of that Ilk, 1st Bt. and Grissel Hay, in 1720.¹ She died on 14 January 1756.¹
     She lived at County Kilkenny, Ireland^G.¹ From 1720, her married name became Cockburn.¹

     Venerable William Cockburn was born in 1721.¹ He was the son of John Cockburn and Martha Rich.² He married Susanna Savage on 10 December 1763.¹ He died on 7 June 1776.¹
     He held the office of Archdeacon of Ossory in 1762.¹ He graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)¹

     Susanna Savage married Venerable William Cockburn, son of John Cockburn and Martha Rich, on 10 December 1763.¹
     From 10 December 1763, her married name became Cockburn.¹
