     Violet Constance Bertha Gilliat was born in 1876 at London, England.2 She was the daughter of John Saunders Gilliat and Louisa Ann Fanny Babington.1 She married, firstly, Hervey Greathed, son of Maj.-Gen. William Wilberforce Harris Greathed and Alice Clive, on 20 October 1903 at Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, England.2 She married, secondly, Henry Bucknall Betterton, 1st and last Baron Rushcliffe, son of Henry Inman Betterton and Agnes Bucknall, on 19 December 1912.1 She died on 5 October 1947.1
     From 20 October 1903, her married name became Greathed.2 From 19 December 1912, her married name became Betterton.1 After her marriage, Violet Constance Bertha Gilliat was styled as Baroness Rushcliffe on 24 January 1935.

     From 29 April 1884, her married name became Sykes.1

Averil Diana Betterton, daughter of Henry Bucknall Betterton, 1st and last Baron Rushcliffe and Violet Constance Bertha Gilliat, on 9 February 1939.1 He died on 26 June 1944 at France, killed in action.1,3
     He fought in the Second World War.1

     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.3 He was educated at Chillon College, Montreux, SwitzerlandG.3 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He was awarded the Olympic Silver Medal in 1968 for equestrian events.3 He was awarded the Olympic Gold Medal in 1968 for equestrian events.3 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1984.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Norfolk.3
