He was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He wrote the book O.K. Verses, published 1906.1 He wrote the book American Invasion, published 1912.1 He was Director of the Food Production Department in 1916.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1917.1 He was Director of the Agricultural Machinery Department, Ministry of Munitions between 1917 and 1918.1 He was awarded the Commander, Order of Leopold of Belgium.1 He was awarded the Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1 He was awarded the Knight Commander, Order of George I of the Hellenes.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1918.1 He was a director of Ford Motor Company and Firestone Tyre and Rubber Company.1 He wrote the book New Songs, published 1925.1 He wrote the book Island of Enchantment, published 1926.1 He wrote the book International Trade Balance, published 1932.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Birmingham University, Birmingham, Warwickshire, EnglandG, in 1937.1 He was created 1st Baron Perry, of Stock Harvard, co. Essex [U.K.] on 28 January 1938.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)1 He was awarded the Liberty Medal of King Christian X of Denamrk in 1947.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1

Frederick William Pethick-Lawrence, 1st and last Baron Pethick-Lawrence was born on 28 December 1871.1 He was the son of Alfred Lawrence and Mary Elizabeth Ridge.1 He married Emmeline Pethick, daughter of Henry Pethick, on 2 October 1901.1 He died on 10 September 1961 at age 89.1
