Rear-Admiral Hon. Claude Preston Hermon-Hodge was born on 20 January 1888.2 He was the son of Robert Trotter Hermon-Hodge, 1st Baron Wyfold and Frances Caroline Hermon.2 He married Gwendoline Rose Davis, daughter of James Goulding Davis, on 20 November 1918.2 He died on 25 March 1952 at age 64.1
He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.)2 He was Assistant Secretary to the Criminal Investigation Department between 1924 and 1928.2 He was Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence, Admiralty between 1936 and 1938.1
