William Willoughby, 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham was born circa 1515.2 He was the son of Sir Christopher Willoughby and Elizabeth Tailboys.3 He married, firstly, Catherine Heneage, daughter of Sir Thomas Heneage and Catherine Skipwith, circa 1535.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Garneys, daughter of John Garneys, after 1558.4 He died on 30 July 1570.2
He was appointed Knight in 1542.2 He was Esquire for the Body before 1545.2 He was created 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham, co. Suffolk [England] on 20 February 1546/47.2 He held the office of Deputy of Calais between 1550 and 1552.2 He held the office of Chief Steward of the Duchy of Lacaster from February 1552/53 to 1579.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire from 10 August 1557 to October 1558.2
