Lt.-Col. Thomas Frederick Mackenzie-Humberston was born before 1754.1 He was the son of Major William Mackenzie and Mary Humberston.1 He died on 30 April 1783, from wounds received in action.1
He was given the name of Thomas Frederick Mackenzie at birth.1 He gained the rank of Cornet in 1771 in the 1st Dragoon Guards.1 Circa 1775 his name was legally changed to Thomas Frederick Mackenzie-Humberston.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1777 in the 1st Dragoon Guards.1 He gained the rank of Major in 1778.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1778 in the Seaforth Highlanders.1 In 1779 he purchased the Seaforth estates from his cousin, the 1st Earl of Seaforth.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 100th Foot in 1780.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1782 in the Seaforth Highlanders.1 He fought in the Campaign against Hyder Ali in 1782.1 He fought in the Mahrattas Campaign on 7 April 1783, in a naval encounter off Bombay, where he was mortally wounded.1
