William Pickford, 1st and last Baron Sterndale was born on 1 October 1848 at Rusholme, Manchester, Lancashire, EnglandG.2,1 He was the son of Thomas Edward Pickford and Georgiana Todd Naylor.1 He married Alice Mary Brooke, daughter of John William Brooke and Jemima Charlotte Brittain, on 18 August 1880 at Blything, Suffolk, EnglandG.2 He died on 17 August 1923 at age 74.2
