     Sir Edward Gilbert Clayton was born on 16 July 1841.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Henry Clayton and Jean Henrietta Blair.² He married Georgina Elizabeth Sykes Clayton, daughter of Sykes Clayton, on 4 November 1864.¹ He died on 5 March 1917 at age 75.¹
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey.¹ He was Inspector of Prisons.¹ He was Secretary to the Prison Commissioners between 1895 and 1908.¹

     Georgina Elizabeth Sykes Clayton was the daughter of Sykes Clayton.¹ She married Sir Edward Gilbert Clayton, son of Maj.-Gen. Henry Clayton and Jean Henrietta Blair, on 4 November 1864.¹ She died on 8 August 1931.¹

     Lt.-Col. Henry Edward Gilbert Clayton was born on 24 August 1867.¹ He was the son of Sir Edward Gilbert Clayton and Georgina Elizabeth Sykes Clayton.² He married Huberta Grenfell, daughter of Captain Hubert H. Grenfell, on 7 January 1900.¹ He died on 9 February 1948 at age 80.¹
     He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Engineers.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹

     Captain Hubert H. Grenfell was he invented illuminated night sights for naval guns.² He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹

     Huberta Grenfell is the daughter of Captain Hubert H. Grenfell.² She married Lt.-Col. Henry Edward Gilbert Clayton, son of Sir Edward Gilbert Clayton and Georgina Elizabeth Sykes Clayton, on 7 January 1900.¹
     From 7 January 1900, her married name became Clayton.

     Henry Hubert Clayton was born on 9 February 1906.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Henry Edward Gilbert Clayton and Huberta Grenfell.² He married Isobel Mary Winters, daughter of William Gass Winters, on 17 June 1944.¹ He died on 10 September 1989 at age 83.¹
     He graduated from University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Candian Artillery.¹ He was Head of Theoretical Physics, British Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd at Chalk River, Ontario, Canada^G.¹

     William Gass Winters lived at Pembroke, Ontario, Canada^G.³

     Isobel Mary Winters was the daughter of William Gass Winters.³ She married Henry Hubert Clayton, son of Lt.-Col. Henry Edward Gilbert Clayton and Huberta Grenfell, on 17 June 1944.³ She died on 1 January 1990.³
     From 17 June 1944, her married name became Clayton.

     William Edward Clayton was born on 24 March 1945.¹ He is the son of Henry Hubert Clayton and Isobel Mary Winters.² He married Sharon Joan Campbell, daughter of Kenneth Campbell, on 19 August 1967.¹
