Colonel Charles Edward Gostling Murray was born on 12 May 1825.1 He was the son of Reverend Edward Murray and Ruperta Catherine Wright.1 He married, firstly, Emily Gostling, daughter of Reverend John Whalley Gostling, on 21 March 1850.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Frances Elizabeth Conant, daughter of Reverend John William Conant and Frances Catherine Groves, on 10 December 1878.1 He died in June 1892 at age 67.1
