Henry Chapman was born on 18 March 1850.1 He was the son of Robert Chapman and Elizabeth Robson.2 He married Dora Gibson, daughter of George Gibson, on 8 August 1876.1 He died on 5 February 1936 at age 85.1
He was educated at Royal Grammar School, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer in the 3rd Durham Volunteer Artillery.1 He was appointed Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants (F.C.A.)1 He lived at Seacroft, Westoe, South Shields, County Durham, EnglandG.1
