     Alfred Dyke Acland was born on 19 August 1858 at Killerton, Devon, England^G.^1,2 He was the son of Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Bt. and Sarah Cotton.¹ He married Hon. Beatrice Danvers Smith, daughter of Rt. Hon. William Henry Smith and Emily Danvers, Viscountess Hambleden, on 30 July 1885.¹ He died on 22 March 1937 at age 78.¹

Laura Caroline Beatrice Smith was born on 9 September 1931.² She was the daughter of William Henry Smith, 3rd Viscount Hambleden and Lady Patricia Herbert.³ She married Michael Charles Brand, son of Lt.-Col. John Charles Brand and Lady Rosabelle Millicent St. Clair-Erskine, on 27 July 1953.³ She died on 19 February 2000 at age 68.³
     Her married name became Brand. She lived in 2003.²

     Emily Danvers, Viscountess Hambleden was the daughter of Frederick Dawes Danvers.² She married, firstly, Benjamin Auber Leach on 22 July 1854.² She married, secondly, Rt. Hon. William Henry Smith, son of William Henry Smith and Mary Ann Cooper, on 13 April 1858.² She died on 12 August 1913.²
     From 22 July 1854, her married name became Leach. From 13 April 1858, her married name became Smith. She was created 1st Viscountess Hambleden, of Hambleden, co. Buckingham [U.K.] on 10 November 1891, suo jure, with a special remainder to her male children by her second husband.²
