     Hon. Evelyn Constance Handcock was born on 3 December 1897.¹ She is the daughter of Albert Edward Handcock, 5th Baron Castlemaine of Moydrum and Annie Evelyn Barrington.² She married Lt.-Gen. Sir Charles Henry Gairdner, son of Charles Arthur Gairdner, on 19 May 1925.¹
     From 19 May 1925, her married name became Gairdner.

     He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the 10th Hussars.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He held the office of Governor of Western Australia between 1951 and 1963.¹
