Mary Waldegrave was born in 1549.1 She was the daughter of Sir Edward Waldegrave and Frances Neville.1 She married John Petre, 1st Baron Petre, son of Sir William Petre and Anne Browne, on 17 April 1570.2 She died on 29 August 1604.1
From 17 April 1570, her married name became Petre.2 After her marriage, Mary Waldegrave was styled as Baroness Petre on 21 July 1603.

John Petre, 1st Baron Petre was born on 20 December 1549 at Ingatestone, Essex, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir William Petre and Anne Browne.2,1 He married Mary Waldegrave, daughter of Sir Edward Waldegrave and Frances Neville, on 17 April 1570.3 He died on 11 October 1613 at age 63 at West Horndon, Essex, EnglandG.1
He was admitted to Middle Temple.3 He was Commissioner of Victuals and Musters.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Essex.3 He held the office of High Sheriff to Essex from 1575 to 1576.3 He was appointed Knight in 1576.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Essex between 1584 and 1587.3 He was created 1st Baron Petre, of Writtle, co. Essex [England] on 21 July 1603.3
