Sarah Lill was born on 15 August 1754.2 She was the daughter of Godfrey Lill and Carey Caroline Bull.1,2 She married Andrew Thomas Stewart, 1st Earl Castle Stewart, son of Robert Stewart and Margaret Edwards, on 2 August 1782.1 She died on 11 November 1843 at age 89 at Hannover Terrace, Marylebone, London, EnglandG.2 Her will was proven (by probate) in February 1844.2
After her marriage, Sarah Lill was styled as Baroness Castle Stuart on 2 August 1782. From 2 August 1782, her married name became Stewart. After her marriage, Sarah Lill was styled as Viscountess Castle Stuart on 20 December 1793. After her marriage, Sarah Lill was styled as Countess Castle Stewart on 30 December 1800.
