George Frederic Colin Campbell was born on 2 June 1858.1 He was the son of Alexander Le Grand Campbell and Hester Anne Copeman.2 He married Amabel Caroline Pike, daughter of Bayly Pike, in 1896.1 He died on 3 March 1937 at age 78.1
He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.)1 He was Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of New Zealand between 1912 and 1920.1 He held the office of Secretary of the Treasury [New Zealand] between 1913 and 1920.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the N.Z. Forces, commanding Coast Defences, Wellington.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He held the office of Controller and Auditor General [New Zealand] in 1921.1
