William Edward Graham Niven was born on 24 June 1877 at Princes Square, London, EnglandG.1 He was the son of William Niven and Helen Boustead.1 He married Henriette Julia Degacher, daughter of Captain William Degacher and Julia Caroline Webber Smith, in 1899 at Warwick, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He died on 21 August 1915 at age 38 at Scimitar Hill, Suvla, Turkey, killed in action.1,2 He was buried at Green Hill Cemetery, Suvla, Turkey.2
He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 In 1908 he was on a two month safari in East Africa, and killed eight lions.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Berkshire Yeomanry.2 He fought in the Gallipoli Campaign.1

Henriette Julia Degacher was the daughter of Captain William Degacher and Julia Caroline Webber Smith.1,2 She married, firstly, William Edward Graham Niven, son of William Niven and Helen Boustead, in 1899 at Warwick, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 She married, secondly, Sir Thomas Comyn-Platt, son of Reverend T. D. Platt, in 1917.1 She died in 1932.1
Henriette Julia Degacher also went by the nick-name of Etta.1 From 1899, her married name became Niven.1 From 1917, her married name became Platt.1 From 1922, her married name became Comyn-Platt.1

Captain William Degacher was born on 4 April 1841.2 He was the son of Walter Henry Degacher.2 He married Julia Caroline Webber Smith, daughter of Maj.-Gen. James Webber Smith and Margaret Jeanette Bell, circa February 1877 at Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.3 He died on 22 January 1879 at age 37 at Natal, South AfricaG, killed in action.2
