Sir Edward Broughton, 1st Bt. was born circa 1610.1 He was the son of Sir Edward Broughton and Frances Tyrrell.1 He married, firstly, Alice Honywood, daughter of Sir Robert Honywood and Alice Barnham.1 He married, secondly, Mary Knightley, daughter of William Knightley and Susan Price, circa April 1660.1 He died in June 1665.1 He was buried on 26 June 1665.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 28 July 1665, where he is described as just a knight.1 His will (dated 21 October 1664) was proven (by probate) on 16 December 1669, where he is described as a knight and baronet.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the Guards.1 At Gate House Prison, Westminster, London, EnglandG, He was confined for being a Royalist.1 He was created 1st Baronet Broughton, of Marchwiell, co. Denbigh [England] circa 1665, but there is no proof of this creation.
