     Sir Edward Broughton, 1st Bt. was born circa 1610.¹ He was the son of Sir Edward Broughton and Frances Tyrrell.¹ He married, firstly, Alice Honywood, daughter of Sir Robert Honywood and Alice Barnham.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Knightley, daughter of William Knightley and Susan Price, circa April 1660.¹ He died in June 1665.¹ He was buried on 26 June 1665.¹ He died intestate and his estate was administered on 28 July 1665, where he is described as just a knight.¹ His will (dated 21 October 1664) was proven (by probate) on 16 December 1669, where he is described as a knight and baronet.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Guards.¹ At Gate House Prison, Westminster, London, England^G, He was confined for being a Royalist.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Broughton, of Marchwiell, co. Denbigh [England] circa 1665, but there is no proof of this creation. He may have only been promised the barionetcy, and died before it could be created.¹ He fought in the sea-battle with the Dutch on 3 June 1665, where he was mortally wounded.¹

     Sir Edward Broughton died from 23 March 1648/49 to 20 February 1649/50.¹
