     Elizabeth Sotheby was baptised on 20 July 1694 at York Minster, York, Yorkshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Sotheby and Anthonina Jenkins.1,2 She married Hon. Thomas Willoughby, son of Thomas Willoughby, 1st Baron Middleton of Middleton and Elizabeth Rothwell. She died on 25 April 1752 at age 57.3
     Her married name became Willoughby.1

     Thomas Sotheby was baptised on 23 October 1656.2 He was the son of Robert Sotheby and Elizabeth Lister.3,2 He married, firstly, Anne Pegge, daughter of Edward Pegge.2 He married, secondly, Anthonina Jenkins, daughter of Tobias Jenkins and Anthonina Wickham, on 6 July 1693 at York Minster, York, Yorkshire, England.2 He died on 11 November 1729 at age 73.2 He was buried on 15 November 1729.2
     He lived at Birdsall Hall, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1

     Thomas Willoughby, 1st Baron Middleton of Middleton was born on 9 April 1672.1,2 He was the son of Francis Willoughby and Emma Barnard.1,3 He married Elizabeth Rothwell, daughter of Sir Richard Rothwell, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Clifton, on 9 April 1691 at Stapleford, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.4 He died on 2 April 1729 at age 56.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Willoughby [E., 1677] in 1688.4 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1693.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Nottinghamshire in 1694.4 He held the office of High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire from 1695 to 1696.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Nottinghamshire between 1698 and 1702.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1699.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) between 1702 and 1711.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Nottinghamshire between 1705 and 1710.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newark from 1710 to 1712.2 He was created 1st Baron Middleton of Middleton, co.      Elizabeth Rothwell was the daughter of Sir Richard Rothwell, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Clifton.1 She married Thomas Willoughby, 1st Baron Middleton of Middleton, son of Francis Willoughby and Emma Barnard, on 9 April 1691 at Stapleford, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.2 She died before February 1735/36 at Tong Castle, Shropshire, EnglandG.1
     From 9 April 1691, her married name became Willoughby.1 After her marriage, Elizabeth Rothwell was styled as Baroness Middleton of Middleton on 1 January 1712.

     Francis Willoughby was born on 22 November 1635 at Middleton Hall, Warwickshire, England.2 He was the son of Sir Francis Willoughby and Lady Cassandra Ridgeway.2 He married Emma Barnard, daughter of Sir Henry Barnard, in 1667.3,2 He died on 3 July 1672 at age 36.2
     He was also known as Francis Willughby.2 He was educated at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire, England.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1663 one of the founders.4 He was a natural philosopher and astronomer.5 He lived at Wollaston, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.5 He wrote the book The Ornithology of Francis Willoughby, published 1678.4

     From 1667, her married name became Willoughby.2 From circa 8 August 1676, her married name became Child.2
