     Hugh Robert Macdonald Farmer was born on 3 December 1907.² He was the son of Charles Edward Farmer and Emily Anne Randolph.¹ He married, secondly, Jean Mary Gregson, daughter of Colonel Lancelot Mare Gregson and Lady Violet Anson.³ He married Penelope Frances Boothby, daughter of Captain Evelyn Leonard Beridge Boothby and Esmé Frances Nevill Augusta Beauchamp, on 28 July 1934.¹ He died on 26 May 2004 at age 96.⁴
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He was Clerk Administrator of the House of Commons.¹ He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.
