     Maj.-Gen. William Stewart was born in 1769 at Caithness, Scotland.1 He was the son of William Stewart.1 He married Sylvia Anne Wolfe.1 He died on 8 April 1854 at New South Wales, Australia.1
     He was commissioned in 1794 with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the 101st Regiment.1 He fought in the Peninsular Wars between 1808 and 1812.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in August 1810.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1819.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales between April 1825 and 1827.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in July 1830.1

     Edward Henry Charles James Fox-Strangways, 7th Earl of Ilchester was born on 1 October 1905.1 He was the son of Giles Stephen Holland Fox-Strangways, 6th Earl of Ilchester and Lady Helen Mary Theresa Vane-Tempest-Stewart.1 He married Helen Elizabeth Ward, daughter of Captain Hon. Cyril Augustus Ward and Baroness Irene Blanche Nicolette van Brienen, on 27 April 1931.2 He died on 21 August 1964 at age 58, without surviving male issue.2
     Edward Henry Charles James Fox-Strangways, 7th Earl of Ilchester usually went by his middle name of Harry.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Horse Guards, Reserve of Officers.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dorset in 1957.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Ilchester, co. Somerset, Baron of Woodford Strangways, co. Dorset [G.B., 1741] on 29 October 1959.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Ilchester and Stavordale, Baron of Redlynch, co. Somerset [G.B., 1747] on 29 October 1959.1 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Ilchester [G.B., 1756] on 29 October 1959.1
