     William Brereton, 3rd Baron Brereton of Leighlin was baptised on 4 May 1631 at Brereton, Cheshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of William Brereton, 2nd Baron Brereton of Leighlin and Lady Elizabeth Goring.1 He married Frances Willoughby, daughter of Francis Willoughby, 5th Baron Willoughy of Parham and Elizabeth Cecil, before 1659.1 He died on 17 March 1679/80 at age 48 at London, EnglandG.1 He was buried on 19 March 1679/80 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Covent Garden, London, EnglandG.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 11 December 1686.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Brereton of Leighlin, co. Carlow [I., 1624] circa April 1664.1 On 20 May 1683 he was one of the founders of the Royal Society.1
     Pepys wrote that "I find him a very sober and serious able man. ... After dinner he very genteelly went to the organ and played a verse very handsomely."1

     Frances Willoughby was the daughter of Francis Willoughby, 5th Baron Willoughy of Parham and Elizabeth Cecil.1 She married William Brereton, 3rd Baron Brereton of Leighlin, son of William Brereton, 2nd Baron Brereton of Leighlin and Lady Elizabeth Goring, before 1659.1 She died circa September 1680.1 She was buried on 12 September 1680 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Covent Garden, London, EnglandG.1 Her will was proven (by probate) on 16 February 1682/83.1
     From before 1659, her married name became Brereton.1 After her marriage, Frances Willoughby was styled as Baroness Brereton of Leighlin circa April 1664. Her last will was dated 6 September 1680.

     John Brereton, 4th Baron Brereton of Leighlin was born on 2 December 1659.1 He was the son of William Brereton, 3rd Baron Brereton of Leighlin and Frances Willoughby.1 He was baptised on 4 December 1659 at St. Paul's Church, Covent Gardens, London, EnglandG.1 He and Mary Tipping obtained a marriage license on 26 June 1686.1 He died in 1718 at Brereton, Cheshire, EnglandG, without issue.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 24 October 1718.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 14 March 1723/24.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Baron Brereton of Leighlin, co. Carlow [I., 1624] on 17 March 1679/80.1

     Mary Tipping was born circa 1655.1 She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Tipping and Elizabeth Beconshaw.1 She and John Brereton, 4th Baron Brereton of Leighlin obtained a marriage license on 26 June 1686.1 She died in February 1714/15.1 She was buried at Brereton, Cheshire, EnglandG.1
     After her marriage, Mary Tipping was styled as Baroness Brereton of Leighlin on 26 June 1686. From 26 June 1686, her married name became Brereton.1

     Francis Brereton, 5th Baron Brereton of Leighlin was born on 1 May 1662.1 He was the son of William Brereton, 3rd Baron Brereton of Leighlin and Frances Willoughby.1 He was baptised on 2 May 1662 at St. Paul's Church, Covent Gardens, London, EnglandG.1 He and Mary Frances Fowler obtained a marriage license on 14 February 1687/88 although this marriage never took place.1 He died circa April 1722 at Holborn, London, EnglandG, unmarried.1 He was buried on 11 April 1722 at Brereton, Cheshire, EnglandG.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered to his aunt, Elizabeth Brereton on 24 May 1722.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered to his cousins once removed, Sir Clobery Holte, Bt. and James Tyrrell on 14 March 1723/24.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Baron Brereton of Leighlin, co. Carlow [I., 1624] in 1718.1
     On his death, his title became extinct.1
