Sir Alexander James Reid, 3rd Bt. was born on 6 December 1932.1 He was the son of Sir Edward James Reid, 2nd Bt. and Tatiana Fenoult.1 He married Michaela Ann Kier, daughter of Olaf Kier, on 15 October 1955.1 He died on 8 April 2019 at age 86.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.3 He gained the rank of officer between 1951 and 1953 in the 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders.3 He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He fought in the Malayan Emergency.3 He retired from the military in 1964, with the rank of Captain, late of the 3rd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders (TA.)3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)3 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Reid, of Ellon, Aberdeenshire [U.K., 1897] on 13 February 1972.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire between 1987 and 1988.3
