     Archibald Johnstone Kirkwood, Baron Kirkwood of Kirkhope was born on 22 April 1946.¹ He is the son of David Kirkwood and Jessie Barclay.¹ He married Rosemary Jane Chester in 1972.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal Democrat) for Roxburgh and Berwickshire.¹ He was created Baron Kirkwood of Kirkhope, of Kirkhope in Scottish Borders [U.K. Life Peer] on 10 June 2005.²
