John Ord Mackenzie was born on 18 March 1811.1 He was the son of Richard Mackenzie and Jane Hamilton.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Hope Kirkpatrick, daughter of Sir Thomas Kirkpatrick of Closeburn, 5th Bt. and Jane Kirkpatrick Sharpe, on 23 April 1833.1 He married, secondly, Joanna Spens, daughter of William Spens and Janet Hill Cook, on 20 January 1881.2 He died on 14 March 1902 at age 90.1
He was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He lived at Dolphinton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1

Sir Harold Lister Farquhar was born on 15 April 1894.2 He was the son of Ernest Farquhar and Maria Theresa Lister.2 He married Constance Audrey Capell, daughter of Hon. Arthur Algernon Capell and Isabel Anne Wilson, on 9 October 1917.1 He died on 31 January 1953 at age 58.2
He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Coldstream Guards.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1945.2 He was Ambassador to Abyssinia between 1946 and 1948.2 He held the office of Ambassador to Sweden between 1948 and 1951.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1950.2
