John Borthwick, 13th of Crookston was born on 7 April 1788.1,2 He was the son of John Borthwick, 12th of Crookston and Grizel Adinston.1 He married, firstly, Anne Dundas, daughter of Rt. Hon. Robert Dundas of Arniston and Hon. Elizabeth Dundas, on 16 March 1819.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Sutherland Dallas, daughter of Alexander Dallas, on 28 April 1838.3 He died on 18 September 1845 at age 57.2
