     He was educated at Ballintore School, County Kildare, Ireland^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Marines.¹ He fought in the action at the forts of La Petite Ansi d'Arlette, Martinique, where he was badly wounded.¹

     Jemima Wyse was born in 1758.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Wyse.¹ She married Major Acheson Johnston Crozier, son of Colin Crozier and Nicolina Johnston, on 11 September 1783 at Kingsbridge, Devon, England^G.¹ She died on 4 June 1831 at Totnes, Devon, England^G.¹ She was buried at Parish Church of St. Edmund, King and Martyrs, Kingsbridge, Devon, England^G.¹
     From 11 September 1783, her married name became Crozier.¹

     Sir Richard Johnston, 1st Bt. was born on 1 August 1743.¹ He was the son of Richard Johnston and Catherine Gill.¹ He married Anne Alexander, daughter of William Alexander and Mary Porter, in October 1764 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G.^2,3 He died on 22 April 1795 at age 51.¹ His will (dated 10 December 1794) was proven (by probate) on 24 June 1795.¹
     He held the office of High Sheriff of County Down in 1765.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of County Armagh in 1771.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Johnston, of Gilford, co. Down [Ireland] on 27 July 1772, for his sevices against the insurgents.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kilbeggan [Ireland] in 1776.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Blessington [Ireland] between 1783 and 1795.³
