     Clive Alexander Cowen was born on 15 April 1911.¹ He is the son of William Leonard Cowen and Annie Rose Scott Hamilton.¹

     Alice Mary Scott Hamilton was born in 1883.¹ She was the daughter of Terrick Alfred Hamilton and Alice Scott.¹ She married Esmond Shadforth.¹ She died on 13 December 1968.¹
     Her married name became Shadforth.¹

     Charles Gipps Hamilton was born on 27 June 1857.¹ He was the son of Edward William Terrick Hamilton and Ann Thacker.¹ He married Anna Gertrude Montgomerie Lang, daughter of Hugh Morris Lang and Margaret Graham, on 28 September 1892.¹ He died on 8 June 1955 at age 97.¹
     He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)¹

     Anna Gertrude Montgomerie Lang was born on 12 April 1864 at Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland.² She was the daughter of Hugh Morris Lang and Margaret Graham.^1,2 She married Charles Gipps Hamilton, son of Edward William Terrick Hamilton and Ann Thacker, on 28 September 1892.¹ She died on 21 February 1937 at age 72.¹
     From 28 September 1892, her married name became Hamilton.¹

     Robert James Lang was born in 1855 at Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland.¹ He was the son of Hugh Morris Lang and Margaret Graham.¹

     Edward William Hamilton was born on 8 July 1893.¹ He was the son of Charles Gipps Hamilton and Anna Gertrude Montgomerie Lang.¹ He married Alice Mary Cox Turner, daughter of James Turner, on 15 August 1931.¹ He died on 25 August 1949 at age 56, without issue.¹
     He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Queen Victoria's Rifles (Kings Royal Rifle Corps.)¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the The Buffs.¹

     Alice Mary Cox Turner was the daughter of James Turner.¹ She married Edward William Hamilton, son of Charles Gipps Hamilton and Anna Gertrude Montgomerie Lang, on 15 August 1931.¹ She died on 29 June 1989.¹
     From 15 August 1931, her married name became Hamilton.¹
