Colonel Patrick Vans of Barnbarroch was the son of Alexander Vans of Barnbarroch and Margaret Maxwell.1 He married, firstly, Jean Campbell, daughter of Sir James Campbell of Lawers.1 He married, secondly, Barbara McDowall, daughter of Patrick McDowall of Freuch, on 28 February 1715.1 He died in 1733.1
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire after 1707.1 He had five other sons and two other daughters.1

Joel Barnett, Baron Barnett was born on 14 October 1923.1 He was the son of Louis Barnett and Ettie Cosovski.2 He married Lilian Stella Goldstone, daughter of Abraham Goldstone, on 11 September 1949.2 He died on 1 November 2014 at age 91.3
