     Charles James de Tollie Barclay was born on 28 December 1863.¹ He was the son of Charles Barclay of that Ilk and Margaret Martin.¹ He married Elizabeth Thompson Bruce, daughter of Reverend Thomas Bruce, on 12 October 1897.¹

     Elizabeth Thompson Bruce is the daughter of Reverend Thomas Bruce.¹ She married Charles James de Tollie Barclay, son of Charles Barclay of that Ilk and Margaret Martin, on 12 October 1897.¹
     From 12 October 1897, her married name became Barclay.¹
