     Robert Heberden Barber was born on 3 June 1916 at Nottinghamshire, England.2 He was the son of Walter Browne Barber and Violet Thompson.1,2 He married Eileen Mary Louisa Combe, daughter of Captain Harvey Alexander Brabazon Combe, on 14 June 1941.1 He died on 6 June 1944 at age 28 at Sword Beach, Normandy, FranceG, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the Northamptonshire Regiment.3 He fought in the D-Day on 6 June 1944.4

     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.2 He wrote the book Military Cross (M.C.), published 1915.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Nottinghamshire in 1939.2
