     Sir John Baker, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1608.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Baker, 1st Bt. and Catharine Smythe.1 He married Eleanor Parkhurst, daughter of Sir Robert Parkhurst and Eleanor Babington.1 He died on 15 January 1653.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Baker, of Sissinghurst, co. Kent [E., 1611] in December 1623.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Kent from 1633 to 1634.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hastings from April 1640 to May 1640.1 On 22 April 1644 he was fined £3,000 for being a zealous Royalist.1

     Sir John Baker, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir John Baker, 2nd Bt. and Eleanor Parkhurst.1 He married Elizabeth Newton, daughter of Sir Robert Newton, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Longston.1 He died on 28 March 1661, without male issue.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Baker, of Sissinghurst, co. Kent [E., 1611] on 15 January 1653.1
     On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1 He had four daughters.1

     Elizabeth Newton is the daughter of Sir Robert Newton, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Longston.1 She married, firstly, Sir John Baker, 3rd Bt., son of Sir John Baker, 2nd Bt. and Eleanor Parkhurst.1 She married, secondly, Sir Philip Howard, son of Sir William Howard and Mary Eure, on 23 April 1668 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Covent Garden, London, EnglandG.1
     Her married name became Baker.1 From 23 April 1668, her married name became Howard.1
