Flower Backhouse1

     Flower Backhouse was the daughter of Sir John Backhouse and Flower Henshaw.1 She married, firstly, William Bishop before 1662.1 She married, secondly, Sir William Backhouse, 1st and last Bt., son of Nicholas Backhouse and Christian Williams, on 23 November 1662 at St. Andrew's Church, Holborn, London, EnglandG.1 She married, thirdly, Henry Hyde, 2nd Earl of Clarendon, son of Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon and Frances Aylesbury, on 19 October 1670.2 She died on 17 July 1700.1
     From before 1662, her married name became Bishop.1 From 19 October 1670, her married name became Hyde.1 After her marriage, Flower Backhouse was styled as Countess of Clarendon on 19 December 1674.

     Henry Hyde, 2nd Earl of Clarendon was born on 2 June 1638.1 He was the son of Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon and Frances Aylesbury.1 He was baptised on 11 June 1638 at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1 He married, firstly, Theodosia Capell, daughter of Arthur Capell, 1st Baron Capell of Hadham and Elizabeth Morrison, circa 26 January 1660/61.1 He married, secondly, Flower Backhouse, daughter of Sir John Backhouse and Flower Henshaw, on 19 October 1670.3 He died on 31 October 1709 at age 71, from asthma.1 He was buried on 4 November 1709 at Westminster Abbey, Westminster, London, EnglandG.4 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 11 May 1713.4 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 2 March 1747/48.4
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
