     William Alston was born circa 1771.¹ He was the son of Sir William Alston, 8th Bt. and Mary Rose.¹ He married Elizabeth Brister, daughter of John Brister, on 2 January 1793 at Lingfield, Surrey, England^G.¹ He died on 23 March 1802, without male issue.¹
     He had two other daughters.¹

     Sir Thomas Alston, 1st Bt. was born circa 1609.¹ He was the son of Thomas Alston and Frances Blundevill.¹ He married Elizabeth St. John, daughter of Hon. Sir Rowland St. John and Sybella Vaughan, before 1650.¹ He died circa July 1678.¹ He was buried on 11 July 1678 at Odell, Bedfordshire, England^G.¹ His will (dated 25 April 1678) was proven (by probate) on 19 July 1678.¹
     He matriculated at St. John's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 8 July 1625.¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple before 1634.¹ He was a barrister in 1639.¹ He was appointed Knight before 1641.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Bedfordshire from 1641 to 1642.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Alston, of Odell, co.
